Vipers SC are back to the top of the Uganda Premier League (UPL) table following their 1-3 win against Onduparaka FC on Saturday at the AbaBet Green Light Stadium in Arua.

Ibrahim Orit, Cesar Manzoki and Paul Mucureezi scored for Vipers. Kabon Living scored a stoppage time penalty kick to deny the visitors a clean sheet.

Mucureezi who scored his seventh goal of the season was named MTN Uganda man of the match.

“It was a very tough game under tough weather conditions. Overall we are happy that we won the game. I am thankful to the people who voted for me as man of the match,” Mucureezi told media.

The match was characterized with lots of water breaks due to scorching heat

The lunch time fixture that was played under scorching heat characterized with a couple of water breaks ended up being Vipers maiden league win in Arua ever since Onduparaka made their UPL debut during the 2016/17 season.

The maximum points ensure that Vipers return to the top of the league with 24 points, two ahead of second placed Express.

The Venoms will face Bright Stars FC and Mbarara City FC next week before hosting SC Villa. Their last two matches before winding down the first round will be against URA FC and KCCA FC in Ndejje and Kitende respectively.

Onduparaka who were seventh by press time will play host to BUL FC on Wednesday, 3rd March 2021.
