Uganda Premier League side URA FC have confirmed the departure of midfielder Ivan Ntege and winger Micheal Birungi from the club after their contracts ran out.

“Ntege and Birungi became tax collectors in 2019, and they now depart the club after two good years of football in which they both managed to score a goal on top of working tirelessly to see that the team gets positive results,” part of the club statement read on Tuesday.

Ntege joined URA on a two-year deal as a free agent following the expiration of his contract at Botswana outfit Township Rollers.

Birungi, from Express in the same transfer market, agreed to a two-year contract keeping him at URA until 2021.

Ntege scored on his debut against Maroons FC in the opening match of the 2019/2020 season.

Birungi’s goal came in his debut season as well, at home (Arena of Visions – Ndejje University) against SC Villa in the second round.

Earlier on, URA also parted ways with Head Coach Sam Simbwa who was shortly replaced by an interim Simeon Masaba.

The club has already acquired new signings in Kabon Living, James Alitho, Derrick Ndahiro and Baligeya.
