Uganda Premier League
Friday, April 16
-Kitara FC 0-3 Vipers SC
-URA FC 3-1 BUL FC

Vipers SC ensured their defence for the Uganda Premier League title is very much on as they took care of Kitara FC 3-0 in Masindi.

The Venoms were dominant throughout the proceedings with Yunus Ssentamu banging a brace while Paul Mucurezi scored the other.

After sustaining reasonable pressure onto Kitara, Vipers took the lead on 31 minutes through Ssentamu who volleyed in from Ibrahim Orit’s cross.

Ssentamu would add the second on 63 minutes as he dispatched a penalty after Mucurezi’s goal bound effort was handled in the area.

Mucurezi who had replaced Jamil Karisa at the start of the second half, put the game beyond Kitara’s reach, on 71 minutes through a free kick that went in off the under side of the cross bar after Richard Basangwa was fouled on the edge of the area.

The result ensures Vipers stay top of the standings with 42 points and they return to action at home to Wakiso Giants next Tuesday.

For Kitara, they are still bottom of the pile with just five points from 17 games and their next fixture is away to Police FC on Tuesday.

In the other day’s game, URA FC fought off BUL to register at 3-1 victory at the Arean of Visions.

Brian Majwega, Shafiq Kagimu and Cromwel Rwothomio scored for URA while Walter Ochora scored BUL’s consolation.

Majwega opened the scoring for URA off a direct free kick on 30 minutes.

Two minutes later, Walter Ochora headed in an equaliser for BUL after Majwega conceded a lousy corner.

Mid-way the second half, Kagimu netted a second for the Tax Collectors to send them on their way to three points.

Rwothomio then put the result beyond doubt after collecting from Dada Ibrahim who had robed Sanon Munaba of possession as the custodian fumbled with the ball.

The points see URA stay in second, level on points (42) with leaders Vipers SC.

For BUL, they are still 10th with 21 points from 17 games.

In their next fixtures, URA are away to SC Villa on Wednesday while BUL hosts UPDF the day before.
