The Uganda Secondary Schools Sports Association (USSSA) has unveiled the official roadmap and comprehensive travel requirements for Team Uganda’s participation in the 23rd East Africa Secondary Schools Sports Association (FEASSA) Games, scheduled to take place in Morogoro, Tanzania, from August 12 to 22, 2026.
The roadmap provides participating schools with a detailed guide to preparations leading up to the regional championship, outlining the administrative, medical, immigration and transport requirements that must be fulfilled before the national delegation departs for Tanzania.
According to USSSA, the preparation process is divided into four key phases. The first phase, Competition Qualification, ran from July 8 to 17 during the National Ball Games II, where schools earned qualification for the regional championship. The second phase, Preparation and Administration, began on July 22 and runs until August 6, covering confirmation of participating teams, stakeholders’ meetings, payment of required fees, submission of official documents, clearance processes, championship draws and distribution of team kits.
The Travel phase is scheduled for August 8 to 11, during which Team Uganda will be officially flagged off before departing for Morogoro through Tanzania. Competition will then take place from August 12 to 22, culminating in the team’s return home after the championship.
USSSA has also outlined mandatory travel requirements for every member of Team Uganda. All athletes, officials and support staff are required to possess a valid passport or travel permit, a Yellow Fever vaccination certificate, a valid school identity card, a completed medical examination form certifying fitness to travel and compete, and a signed parental or guardian consent form. Participants travelling without passports must also provide two passport-size photographs with their names clearly written on the back.
Drivers and vehicles accompanying the delegation must equally meet specified requirements. Drivers are expected to have valid driving permits, while all vehicles must carry valid third-party insurance and original logbooks. Schools will also be required to travel with accreditation cards for all participants alongside an official letter listing the athletes and officials forming part of the travelling delegation.
To safeguard the welfare of student-athletes, USSSA has made medical screening compulsory for every participant. Each student must undergo examination by a qualified medical doctor and be certified medically fit before travelling. The medical assessment is intended to identify any underlying health conditions that may require attention during the championship while ensuring the overall safety of athletes throughout the tournament.
Parents and guardians are also required to complete an immigration consent form authorizing their children to travel to Tanzania and represent their respective schools as part of Team Uganda. By signing the document, they confirm their consent for the student to participate in the championship and acknowledge that they will compete against schools from across the East African region.
In addition, all buses and vehicles transporting the delegation must undergo clearance under the joint supervision of the Ministry of Education and Sports, USSSA, ASSHU and FEASSA to ensure compliance with safety and transport regulations before departure.
USSSA has made available all the necessary documentation, including the official FEASSA roadmap, travel requirements, medical examination forms, immigration consent forms, vehicle clearance forms and accommodation information for Morogoro, urging schools to complete all processes within the stipulated timelines to facilitate a smooth departure for Team Uganda.
