Uganda senior women’s national cricket team, Victoria Pearls have maintained their perfect run at the ongoing Kwibuka Women’s T20 Tournament after they beat Nigeria by 5 wickets (100/5 against 101/5) during their third outing on Monday at Gahanga Cricket Stadium in Kigali.

The triumph over Nigeria means that the Ugandan side have made it to the final of the competition having beaten Botswana and Rwanda in their earlier matches. The teams will play a single round robin with the top two sides meeting in the final.

Victoria Pearls’ Stephanie Nampiina was named player of the match after a good show. She was unbeaten on the crease with 20 runs off 22 balls and as well picked one wicket when her side was bowling first after winning the toss.

However, for Uganda’s innings, it was Immaculate Nakisuuyi who had a game high 31 runs from 20 balls, including 5 fours. She was however caught by Etim Sarah Ekwere following Adekunle shola’s delivery.

Kevin Awino (22 runs) and Proscovia Alako (13) were the other Victoria Pearls players to manage double figures while on the crease.

For Nigeria who were sent to bat first, Esther Sandy hit a game high 52 runs from 39 balls including 2 fours and 2 sixes. She later fell prey to Stephanie Nampiina and her dismissal costed her side.

Lucky Piety (27 runs) and Eseigbe Favour (12 runs) were the other Nigerian players to post double figures in a losing effort.

Uganda will play neighbors Kenya in their final round robin game on Tuesday.
