SC Villa travel to the Fufa Technical Centre in Njeru on Friday, January 23, 2026, to face BUL FC in a Uganda Premier League encounter that could see the Jogoos climb to the top of the table. Kick-off is scheduled for 4:00pm, and it will be the only league fixture played on Friday.
Villa head into the match sitting just one point off the summit in a tightly packed title race. Vipers, Police FC and KCCA currently share top spot on 27 points, and a win for the record champions would propel them above the congested leadership.
Despite BUL’s modest position on the table—ninth with 13 points—Villa head coach Zeljko Kovacevic is bracing for a demanding contest, particularly given the conditions in Njeru.
“BUL is a good team despite having bad results in the first ten games,” Kovacevic said during the pre-match press conference. “It should be a difficult game on artificial grass and everything, but I know we have prepared well and we hope to play a good game.”
BUL, who are based in Jinja, are still searching for consistency this season but recently received a boost with Alex Isabirye beginning his third stint as head coach with a victory over Calvary. Isabirye believes his side has addressed key issues and is ready to challenge one of the league’s giants.
“In recent matches, we have not had good results, but we have worked on several issues and believe we can overcome SC Villa,” Isabirye said.
History slightly favours the hosts. BUL have won five of the last ten meetings between the two sides, with Villa claiming three wins and two matches ending in draws. Last season’s corresponding fixture at the Fufa Technical Centre ended in a narrow 1–0 victory for BUL.
