Uganda Premier League side Vipers SC have confirmed the departure of midfielder Allan Okello following the completion of his transfer to Tanzanian giants Young Africans SC.
Okello leaves Kitende as one of the standout figures of a golden period for the StarTimes Uganda Premier League champions, having played a central role in the club’s domestic double during the 2024/25 season. Vipers lifted both the Uganda Premier League title and the Stanbic Uganda Cup in what went down as one of the most successful campaigns in their modern history.
The attacking midfielder enjoyed a remarkable season, finishing as the league’s top scorer with 19 goals, a rare achievement for a player operating mainly behind the striker. His influence was felt throughout his time at the club, where he recorded 24 league goals and 13 assists in 58 appearances, alongside four goals and two assists in the Uganda Cup during his two and a half year stay.
Okello also carried his form onto the continental stage, representing Vipers in the 2025/26 CAF Champions League and helping the club reach the second preliminary round. His composure and creativity were key as the Venoms competed against some of the continent’s strongest sides.
Having joined Vipers in September 2023 after returning from Algerian club Paradou AC, Okello quickly became the creative heartbeat of the team. His vision, technical quality and leadership made him a fan favourite and a decisive presence in big moments.
With six months remaining on his contract, the club agreed to his transfer in recognition of his service and his desire to take on a new challenge. He now begins a new chapter in Dar es Salaam with Young Africans SC, joining a list of Ugandan internationals who have previously featured for the Tanzanian powerhouse.
