Uganda Premier League
Tuesday, 20-04-2020
-Vipers SC 0-0 Wakiso Giants FC
-Bright Stars FC 2-1 Express FC
-Police FC 4-1 Kitara FC
-Onduparaka FC 2-3 MYDA
-BUL FC 4-3 UPDF FC
-Kyetume FC 1-0 Busoga United FC

Vipers SC were held to a goalless draw at home to Wakiso Giants FC in one of the six Uganda Premier League games played on Tuesday.

The Venoms who are in hunt for a second successive title were guilty of missing several chances as they failed to break down a resolute Wakiso back-line.

Karim Watambala came close with a fierce drive that just about cleared the post, Yunus Ssentamu shot over from inside the area, Ceaser Manzoki headed over from Willa’s cross while Livingstone Mulondo saw a header fly over from Disan Galiwango’s corner.

Wakiso too had chances but Frank Ssebufu and Pius Kaggwa could not convert from good positions.

The draw sees Vipers move one point clear at the top of the standings. However, a win for URA FC away to SC Villa on Wednesday will see Fred Kajoba’s side drop two points behind the Tax Collectors.

At Kavumba, Express FC surrendered a one-goal lead to lose 2-1 away to Bright Stars.

Ibrahim Kayiwa put the Red Eagles ahead on 41 minutes, moments before Samuel Ssekamate saw a penalty that would have seen the t1o sides head into the break on level terms, saved.

Ssekamate made amends for his miss as he equalised on 77 minutes.

The stage was then set for substitute Emmanuel Loki who headed home the winner with just four minutes left on the clock.

The result means Express have now gone three games without winning and drop six points off the top of the table, in third.

For the Stars, they climb into 6th with 29 points from 19 games.

At Lugogo, Police FC thumped hapless Kitara FC 4-1 in a one sided affair.

A brace by Ben Ocen and a goal each through Frank Tumwesigye and Hassan Muhamud did the trick for Abdallah Mubiru’s side who climb into 4th on the standings.

Ben Ocen (10) celebrates after scoring the second goal against MYDA on Tuesday.

Patrick Kusemererwa scored Kitara’s consolation and the result leaves them bottom of the log with just five points from 19 games.

In Mukono, Kyetume FC snapped a 14 game winless streak as they beat Busoga United 1-0 at the Nakisunga Grounds in what was also the first ever UPL game at the venue.

Richard Matovu scored the only goal of the game on 54 minutes and the Slaughters, who had missed a penalty earlier as Mustafa Mujuzi blazed over from 12 yards, held on to victory.

The result means Kyetume moved to 16 points but stay in 14th, four points behind 13th placed Busoga United.

In Arua, 10-man MYDA FC registered the result of the day as they came from behind to stun Onduparaka at the Green Light Stadium.

Moses Okot put Onduparaka ahead from the penalty spot on 17 minutes but MYDA converted a penalty of their own on 28 minutes to level matters and ensure it is all square at the break.

A minute after the restart, Jamal Malish restored the Caterpillars lead and they looked to be on course for all three points after Brandy Lojum was sent off on 77 minutes.

However, Mutebi converted another penalty on 80 minutes to level matters again.

In the last minute of the 90, Tonny Kyamera was unfortunate to see a ball bounce off him and into the back of the net to ensure MYDA registers only their second victory of the season.

The win takes them to nine points for the season but are now 11 points away from safety.

At the Kyabazinga Stadium in Bugembe, BUL FC held off UPDF FC to win 4-3 in a thrilling seven-year encounter.

AS early as the 21st minute, BUL had raced into a 2-0 lead thanks to Deogracious Ojok and Simon Oketch’s goals.

Ramathan Dudu then put through his own net before the break to hand UPDF a glimmer of hope.

They took it with both hands and levelled matters through Ezekiel Katende a minute after the recess.

On the hour mark, Oketch scored his second on the day to restore BUL’s lead but Brian Kayanja responded from a penalty seven minutes later.

Ten minutes from time, Robert Mukongotya won it for BUL with his fourth goal of the season.

The win sees BUL sees them climb into 9th spot with 24 points, four adrift of 8th placed UPDF.
