Vipers Sports Club has officially announced that it will not participate in its upcoming Uganda Premier League fixture against Kitara FC, scheduled for Saturday, October 4th, 2025, at Namboole Stadium.
The club’s decision stems from unresolved concerns surrounding the recently introduced league format and accompanying reforms.
In a statement released on its official platforms, Vipers SC cited the Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA)’s failure to respond to multiple correspondences and formal petitions regarding the new changes to the league structure. The club emphasized that until FUFA offers a “formal and respectful” response, it will not take part in the controversial double-header match.
“Vipers Sports Club informs its fans, stakeholders, football lovers and the general public that the club shall not participate in the new league format double header game against Kitara FC… until FUFA formally and respectfully responds to the issues raised,” the statement reads.
While the club did not detail the specific grievances in this release, sources close to the matter suggest Vipers SC is opposing the manner in which the new reforms have been implemented, citing a lack of transparency, consultation, and stakeholder inclusion.
The announcement has already sparked debate among fans and football analysts, with some praising the club’s bold stand for the “integrity of the game,” while others express concern over the potential disruption to the league schedule.
