Uganda Premier League
Vipers SC 4-0 Busoga United
Tuesday, April 13th

Vipers SC maintained top spot in the Uganda Premier League as they walloped Busoga United 4-0 on Tuesday.

The Venoms were rampant and struck through Aziz Kayondo, Yunus Ssentamu’s brace and substitute Milton Karisa.

They started strongly with Karim Watambala shooting wide inside the opening 10 minutes.

On 25 minutes, Kayondo opened the scoring off a fierce drive from distance as his cross-shot found it’s way into the back of the net.

Ssentamu and Ceaser Manzoki had chances, moments later, to double the lead but both failed to find the back of the net.

Somehow, the visitors held on to go into the break trailing but just a single goal.

Two minutes after the break, Ssentamu pounced on Watambala’s through ball to slot past Omedwa Rogers in the Busoga goal for 2-0.

On 64 minutes, Shafick Kaketo handled in the area and Vipers were awarded a penalty that Ssentamu converted to complete his brace.

Five minutes from time, Kalisa who had replaced Ssentamu on 77 minutes and was making his first appearance since January, scored a fourth for the Venoms to seal a convincing victory on the day.

It was also their 4th win over Busoga United this season having earlier defeated them 5-3 in the first round and also took care of the same side twice in the Uganda Cup last week.

The victory sees Vipers move to 39 points, level on points with second placed URA FC but with a better goal difference.

For Busoga, they stay in 12th with 17 points from as many games.

In their next fixtures, Vipers are away to Kitara FC on Friday while Busoga hosts Police FC the following day.

*The other games played on Tuesday*

-URA FC 2-0 KCCA FC
-Mbarara City FC 2-1 MYDA FC
