The Uganda Premier League has unveiled a stunning new trophy inspired by Uganda’s majestic mountain ranges, with the country’s highest peak, Margherita, serving as the central theme.
Crafted from fine silver and standing 511mm tall, a symbolic nod to the 5,110m altitude of Margherita Peak — the new FUFA Uganda Premier League trophy celebrates ambition, excellence, and resilience. It mirrors the journey of top-flight football teams as they compete to reach the pinnacle of Ugandan football.
The trophy’s design resembles a vertically stretched football, with horizontal elements forming a crescent shape, symbolizing new beginnings. Its body features hexagonal and pentagonal panels as a subtle tribute to classic football design. The piece is mounted on a textured hemispherical base and two supporting tiers engraved with “FUFA” and “Uganda Premier League.”
Vipers SC, having clinched the 2024/25 StarTimes Uganda Premier League title with a game to spare, will be the first team to receive this new trophy. The Venoms currently top the table with 68 points and are set to face relegated Soltilo Bright Stars in their final match at St. Mary’s Stadium, Kitende. A win would see them finish the season with 71 points.
The unveiling comes just days before the official trophy presentation, cementing FUFA’s commitment to elevating the prestige of Ugandan football with a symbol that tells a story, one cast in silver, forged in ambition, and grounded in national pride.
