Vivo Energy reaffirms support for Ugandan motorsport with UGX 100M sponsorship for 2025 Pearl of Africa Rally

Vivo Energy Uganda has reaffirmed its commitment to Ugandan motorsport by announcing a UGX 100 million sponsorship to the Federation of Motorsport Clubs of Uganda (FMU) for the highly anticipated Shell V-Power Pearl of Africa Uganda Rally.

The event is scheduled to take place from 9th to 11th May 2025 in Mbarara City.

As the exclusive distributor and marketer of Shell-branded fuels and lubricants in Uganda, Vivo Energy will once again serve as the title sponsor of the prestigious rally. The sponsorship highlights Shell V-Power’s strong association with performance, innovation, and excellence.

Shell V-Power, the company’s premium performance fuel, boasts a 98-octane rating and is co-engineered with Scuderia Ferrari. It is specially formulated to enhance engine performance, reduce friction, and clean vital engine parts — delivering the kind of high performance demanded by top-level motorsport.

Speaking at a press conference to announce the sponsorship, Joanita Menya Mukasa, Managing Director at Vivo Energy Uganda, emphasized the broader impact of the partnership:

“We are proud to be the title sponsor of the Shell V-Power Pearl of Africa Uganda Rally once again. Our long-standing partnership with the Federation of Motorsport Uganda reflects our unwavering commitment to the motorsport community in Uganda. Motorsport is not just entertainment—it’s a platform for engineering innovation, youth empowerment, and national pride.”

She added that the sponsorship aims to support the dreams of rally drivers and fans across Uganda, while also contributing to the development of a stronger sports ecosystem.

Hon. Jimmy Akena, President of the Federation of Motorsport Clubs of Uganda, expressed his gratitude for Vivo Energy’s continued support:

“We are thrilled to continue our partnership with Vivo Energy Uganda for the Shell V-Power Pearl of Africa Uganda Rally. Their steadfast support has been instrumental in the growth and success of motorsport in Uganda. Year after year, they’ve helped elevate the rally to new heights, bringing professionalism, visibility, and crucial funding.”

The Shell V-Power Pearl of Africa Uganda Rally remains one of the most celebrated events on Uganda’s motorsport calendar, and with Vivo Energy’s renewed sponsorship, the 2025 edition promises to be one of the biggest and most competitive yet.
