KCCA soccer academy came into last Saturday’s FUFA Junior league (U19) as favorites against BUL FC Junior team but were stunned as the Eastern side won their first ever Junior league title with a 3-0 convincing victory.

Led by Record junior league top scorer Sadat Anaku, the side that previously lost at two finals, looked at 2018/19 as the best season to clinch their maiden title.

Anaku, a phenomenon throughout the previous seasons, was instrumental in KCCA SA regular season run as they topped treble group.

He scored 31 goals as top scorer and created a couple. An eye for goal and captivating ball skills on the field forced KCCA FC manager Mike Mutebi to graduate the forward to the senior team in mid last season.

Prior to the Saturday final, his last game in the junior league, Anaku stated that he ‘wanted to sign out on the high’ probably by winning KCCA SA first title.

Despite finishing the top scorer for previous three seasons, the league’s record goal scorer (84 goals) signed out on the low as he failed to win a junior league title.

KCCA lost to Vipers junior team and Soana FC Junior team in the 2015/16 and 2016/17 season respectively on penalties before falling to hat trick group leaders BUL FC JT on Saturday.

Reagan Kalyowa opened the scoring in the 22nd minute before completing his brace in the 48th minute. Deo Sentongo scored the third in the 62nd minute to hand BUL FC JT their first ever FUFA Junior League title.

Anaku was part of the six players KCCA FC promoted from the junior side ahead of new 2-19/20 season. The others unveiled on Tuesday are; Hassan Jurua, Kafumbe Joseph, Kato Samuel, Joseph Bukenya Kizza and Musa Ramathan.

Previous winners:

2016/2017: Soana FC JT

2017/2018: Vipers SC JT
