Matia Lule has followed his former boss back to club football management. This is after Proline FC confirmed the former Uganda Cranes assistant coach as their next head coach replacing Shafik Bisaso who is heading abroad for further football coaching studies.

“We are delighted to announce the appointment of Mr. Matia Lule as our new Team Manager,” partly read the statement shared on the club’s official social media platforms. Lule who began work immediately will be assisted by Baker Mbowa and Luyima Richard while Swaibu Ssebagala is the goal keepers coach. According to Mugib Kasule, the Proline director, Lule understands the club better –the reason he was appointed.

“He has been working with our academy for the last one year and we felt he understands us better,” confirmed Kasule.

Lule’s tenure at the Cranes ended after FUFA dissolved the Cranes’ technical team following the resignation of Head coach Sebastien Desabre.

The Frenchman, who also joined Egyptian club Pyramids FC, led the Cranes to last 16 of the 2019 AFCON finals in Egypt –the first time Uganda went as far since 1978.

Desabre and Lule have since been replaced by Abdullah Mubiru and Livingstone Mbabazi as head and assistant coach respectively on an interim basis.

The former KCCA, Express, Entebe, and Stand United FC (Tanzania) coach comes with vast experience in youth and international football much needed by the newly promoted side.

His immediate task will be helping the club have a good run in the CAF Confederation Cup starting with the preliminary round return leg against Malawi’s Masters Security FC.

The Uganda Cup champions carry a 3-0 advantage from first leg.
