Women’s National Rugby 7s slated for Sunday

Event: Women’s National Rugby 7s
Date: 28th November 2021
Venue: Kyadondo Rugby Club

After a series of games at regional level, women’s teams who qualified for the National Rugby 7s will meet on Sunday, 28th November 2021 at Kyadondo Rugby Club to determine the Ugandan champions for the two tiers, 1 & 2.

Tier A has Central sides Avengers, Blackpearls Northern outfit Kitgum Queens and Eastern team Mbale Eagles.

Tier B has Central region pair of Black Diamonds and Blue Whales, Mbale Eagles 2 from the East, Nile Leopardess from the Northern region and the Western franchise.

The teams will play in round robin format and the winner’s from each tier will be crowned champions.

At regional level, Mbale Eagles 2 finished top while Spire Lions finished 2nd in Eastern region hence the latter didn’t make it to the nationals.

Blue Whales finished 1st followed by Black Diamonds in Central region while Kitgum queens finished first but because of more game experience, they play in Tier 1.

Nile Leopardess who finished 2nd are newcomers to the game in Northern region so they play in Tier 2.

Western franchise is a combination of Mbarara Lionnesses and Kisoro Jaguars as newly formed teams to represent Western region.

On Sunday, games will run between 8 am to 5 p.m with exciting rugby set to be displayed by the girls.

Nile Leopardess
Western franchise
