Pepsi University football league

Sunday

Busitema 1-1 KIU

Busitema University came from behind to secure a point off Kampala International University (KIU) after the two sides played to a 1-1 draw in the Pepsi University football league group C match on Sunday in Busitema. Samuel Ocen scored Busitema’s goal at one minute past an hour mark to cancel out Sadiq Tijjan’s 30th minute goal that had given the visitors lead. Meanwhile, defending champions Kyambogo University stormed the quarter finals following their 1-0 home win against Kumi University in the other group encounter played on Saturday. Emma Mwesigwa scored the only goal as Deo Sserwadda’s side joined Uganda Martyrs University (UMU) and Makerere University business school (MUBS) at the knockout stage. Kyambogo were bouncing back from a shocking 2-0 defeat to Kampala International University (KIU) that ended their 2-year unbeaten run whilst the win being KIU’s second of the season. Kyambogo, who won last season’s title unbeaten, moved to the summit of group C with 9 points from 5 points while Busitema, with a better goal difference, remained second (5 points). KIU (5 points) leapfrogged Kumi (4 points) from third place as the battle for who joins Kyambogo at the knockout stage intensifies.
