Clinton Komugisha scored a hat-trick as Nyamityobora defeated Kigezi Home Boys 3-2 at the Kakyeka Stadium on Saturday.

The captain scored twice in the first half before completing his treble late in the second. Grant Masiko and Roger Tabule netted once each for the visitors.

Nyamityobora who came into the game on the back of a 4-0 loss to Proline FC on Thursday.

They started well but struggled to create clear opening until Komugisha netted on 36 minutes.

However, Maskio replied from the penalty spot five minutes later for Kigezi who looked to head into the break on level terms.

At the stroke of halftime, Komugisha struck again to ensure the hosts went into halftime with a slender one-goal lead.

Kigezi started the second better than they did in the first and were rewarded with their second goal of the afternoon as Tabule struck to level matter at 2-2.

On 79 minutes, Komugisha completed his hat-trick to ensure Nyamityobora walk away with three hard-fought points.

The victory sees Richard Makumbi’s side climb into second on the standings with 21 points, one ahead of third-placed Proline who have played a game less.

Nyamityobora second on Big League table

Nyamityobora are however five points adrift of leaders Tooro United FC who return to action on Sunday.

For Kigezi, they are embroiled in the Rwenzori group relegation battle with just 11 points from 12 matches.

In the only Elgon group game played on Saturday, Mbale Heroes and Maroons played out a 2-2 draw at the Mbale Municipal Stadium.

Mbale scored through former SC Villa defender Ibrahim Kibumba who converted two penalties.

For Maroons, Fred Amaku and Junior Amanya were both on target.

Maroons remain in 5th with 14 points while Mbale are a point behind the Prison Warders.
