After winning their first ever Wakiso district secondary schools football title with Victory over record winners St Mary’s SSS, Kitende at the 2019 final early this month, Buddo SS continued showing their sports prowess when they successfully retained the basketball (Boys) Wakiso district title.

Buddo beat Mbogo mixed 67-55 over the weekend in the final played at Wakisha resource center, Wakiso. To win the title last year, Buddo needed a single point to beat Turkish Light Academy in the final held at Exodus

College, Wakiso. Buddo SS Captain Victor Onyango, a Kenyan national, says that squad quality, hard work, and unity in the team were the key pillars for title retention.

“We can beat any opponent in the country and region. We have the quality, determination and whatever it takes to win all championships at the district, national and regional level. Every player is ready to raise the bar higher than last year,” he noted after receiving the trophy.

Buddo beat Bethel 50-47 at the semi final while Mbogo Mixed knocked out last year’s runners up Turkish Light Academy at the semi final with a 43-37 score line.

Meanwhile, St Noa Girls SS, Zana were crowned the district Girls basketball champions after beating record 10-time winners St Mary’s SSS, Kitende by a point (55-54) in the final.

Kitende led the opening three quarters before St Noa’s came from six points behind to win their first ever district title.

At the semi finals, St Noa beat East Africa defending champions Buddo SS 38-17 while Kitende saw off Exodus College-Wakiso 45-30 to storm the final. This year’s Fresh Dairy-sponsored National Ball Games 1 will be held at Mbale SSS early next month.
