National Resistance Movement (NRM) Vice Chairman Eastern region chairman Cpt Mike Mukula is pondering a return to rally this year.

Mukula, who acquired Kuku Ranjit’s Subaru N14 , is expected to hit the ground this weekend in Busiika race track as he tests his newly acquired monster. “I plan to come to rally again along with my son Mike Jr. It is true, I have bought Kuku’s car but am yet to set a date for my return. For now, I will be doing more of training in Uganda and Kenya before I can look at the events I can attempt this season,” said Mukula, will be vying for similar position during the NRM national delegates assembly due this weekend January 25 at the Namboole stadium.

The Captain who was referred to as ‘Flying Mike’ in his racing active times explained why he wants to make a return to the cockpit.

“When I look at some of the drivers who are in the same age as me making things happen, I believe I can also be competitive. And when I heard about Karim’s probable return I decided to make a move. I plan to create Mukula rally team that will have my son, who will soon also acquire a Subaru N12 to compete,” noted the ever smart politician from Soroti.

The FMU 2020 season starts this weekend with a sprint on January 26 at the Festino Cite, Mukono.

The sprint was launched on Tuesday in Mukono but drivers are unhappy that the FMU technical committee is yet to publish regulations on which the season will run –something that has been a trend for the last three years.

Among the new regulations will be new scoring system for the Clubman rally and Two-wheel drive categories as well as dropping restrictions on the type of cars to run in the Clubman Rally championship.
