It was full board on Tuesday at the StarTimes stadium, Lugogo as the Uganda National football team (Cranes) consisting of only local based players entered third day of non residential training ahead of their second round CHAN 2020 Cameroon qualifier against Burundi at Lugogo this Saturday.

The two-hour session saw assistant coach Abudallah Mubiru take players through several paces for agility, space awareness, transitional play, passing, crossing, dribbling and creation of scoring opportunities drills.

“We wasted a lot of chances in the first leg despite carrying a 3-0 advantage. I believe we would have scored more if we were lethal enough. The tie is not over yet and we need to convert the chances as well as defending well,” noted Mubiru.

Allan Kayiwa and Kirizestom Ntambi, who were part of the Uganda Cranes 1-0 away win over Ethiopia in the international friendly on Sunday, also joined the rest in the training.

The Cranes will continue double session training throughout the week before facing Burundi. “We are fortunate enough that all players have reported –including those who traveled with the senior team to Ethiopia. Everyone is working hard and all players are positive towards training,” noted Mubiru. The team is expected to enter residential training this Thursday at Sky Hotel, Nalya.
