In the latest FIFA rankings unveiled this week, Uganda maintains its stronghold as the leading force in the Council of East and Central Africa Football Associations (CECAFA) Zone, holding steady at 92nd place globally with 1242.15 points.
Kenya has surged up the rankings, securing the second spot in the CECAFA Zone by climbing four places to 107th in the world with 1191.24 points. This advancement follows Kenya’s commendable performance in recent international friendlies, where they triumphed over hosts Malawi 4-0 and Zimbabwe 3-1, ultimately clinching victory in the 4-Nations tournament.
Rwanda also makes notable progress, ascending two places to 131st in the FIFA rankings and claiming the fifth spot within the CECAFA Zone, boasting 1112.44 points. Meanwhile, Tanzania and Sudan maintain their positions at 119th and 127th place respectively.
Burundi holds the sixth position in the CECAFA Zone, positioned at 140th globally, while Ethiopia follows closely behind at 145th place. South Sudan experiences a slight setback, dropping one place to 167th globally. Djibouti and Somalia face challenges in their rankings, placed at 192nd and 199th respectively. Eritrea remains unranked in the latest FIFA assessment.
