Uganda Cranes Media officer Ahmed Hussein has allayed fears that Moses Lumala would miss the Wednesday clash against Zimbawe in the team’s second AFCON 2019 match at the Cairo international stadium, Egypt due to injury.

Uganda got a surprise win against two-time champions Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) in their opener on Saturday with goals from Patrick Kaddu and Man of the match Emma Okwi in either stanzas.

Late in the game, impressive Abdul Lumala was substituted by Isaac Muleme in the 82nd minute and the Sweden-based winger seemed to be limping as he gave way. However, Hussein, also the FUFA Communications manager confirmed that Lumala’s substitution was a tactical move.

“He (Lumala) is fit and trained with all other players on Monday. The team is in the best conditions and looking forward to the next fixture,” confirmed Hussein.

Lumala proved a great addition to Desabre fold. His pace, dribbling skills and ability to cross made him a darling to fans.

He occasionally also dropped to cover up at right back for Bevis Mugabi although he ought to have quicker decision making.

Uganda tops Group A after the 2-0 victory with hosts and record 7-time champions, who face DRC later on Wednesday, come second after their slim 1-0 win over Zimbabwe in the official tournament’s opener. Zimbabwe and DRC come second and third respectively on goal difference.
