Former Prime Minister of Kenya Raila Odinga has turned into the Kenya Harambe stars lead counselor after the 2-0 thumping by Algeria on Sunday in their first AFCON 2019 game.

Kenyasaw their 15-year wait to partake in the continental showpiece begin in an upsetting fashion with Baghdad Bounedjah (P) and Riyad Mahrez scoring for the dominant Desert Foxes who took a 2-0 lead by the break. Victory left Algeria on top of Group C with 3 points, level on points with Senegal, who also beat Tanzania 2-0 earlier.

Throughsocial media, Odinga tweeted acknowledging the Harambe Stars fruitless efforts and style of play. “After a 15-year absence from the tournament you played your hearts out but didn’t get a favorable result. Keep your heads up and keep going, kuteleza sio kuanguka. Thewhole nation is still rooting for you #HarambeeStars all the best in the rest of your #AFCON2019 fixtures,” Raila tweeted. He reminded the team that they have support of 50m Kenyans. Last Thursday, Odinga paid a visit to the team at their hotel in Egypt, wished them luck and even posed for photos with some of the players. Kenya plays Senegal on Thursday before Tanzania faces Algeria.
