Express FC and Uganda Cranes center back Murushid Juuko was not among seven local based players to be named in the Cranes team for Match Day Three and Four of the 2021 AFCON Qualifiers double-header against South Sudan.

Jjuko who was part of the 20 domestic league players summoned ahead of the AFCON 2021 qualifier matches against South Sudan but never made the final cut of seven players has spoken out stating there’s always another opportunity in national team colours.

“Firstly, I’m grateful for the gaffer for the call up, he makes the final call and I respect that! I know there are more games to come and I’ll hopefully be considered because I’m extra hard towards that happening,” Jjuko told Express FC website.

Going forward, Jjuko now hopes to make it to the CHAN team when the event kicks off in January next year.
“I would say playing at CHAN for now is my target although it all depends on how my teammates perform in the league. I am optimistic the club will do well, we’re well prepared,” Jjuko added.

CHAN a tournament that attracts only local based players is expected to kick off on 16th January 2021 in Cameroon and the Cranes who will be making a 5th straight appearance are pooled in group C alongside champions Morocco, neighbors Rwanda and Togo.

Murushid Juuko has represented the Uganda Cranes at the past two consecutive AFCON editions and is one of the players head coach Wasswa Bbosa is depending on for a seventh Uganda Premier League title.
