Kamusiime, Muhangi Win Big At Lady Captain's Prize Golf Tournament

Caroline Kamusiime and Michael Muhangi emerged overall winners in the ladies and men’s categories respectively at the Lady Captain’s Prize Golf Tournament that was played on Saturday at Uganda Golf Club‘s (UGC) par-72 course in Kitante.

Kamusiime beat ladies Group A winner Katy Kabenge on count back (41 points) while Muhangi had a whooping 48 points to come atop all the men who graced the event.

The pair each won an air ticket to the destination of their choice courtesy of Uganda Airlines, a Sayona fridge, a weekend stay for two at Kigambira Safari Lodge plus a trophy.

For Kamusiime’s case, she further got a savings account with One Million Shillings deposit from Britam. The account will be operational starting next week.

The tournament that was played in honor of outgoing UGC Lady Captain Anne Abeja attracted a huge field of golfers as new Lady Captain Grace Kabonero was ushered in.

“This tournament is significant because it marks the end and begining of an era,” Abeja, also Uganda Ladies Golf Union (ULGU) President said, adding that; “I’m grateful to former past Lady Captains. My team and I are very grateful to the partners who have always supported us.”

Abeja who earlier on extended tokens of appreciation to partners also won the ladies longest drive award. She also finished as runner up in ladies Group B with 39 stableford points, just two behind group winner Gertrude Kityo.

Meanwhile, Ladies Group C winner was Connie Mukuru with 36 points. Runner up Babirye Kityo had 35 points while third placed Eva Lwanga had 24 points.

In the men’s groups, Ibra Bagalana emerged winner in Group A with 41 points. In Group B Kelvin Liu beat Aaron Ecel on count back (41 points) to emerge winner while Ethan Miragire had 42 points to emerge atop Group C.

Judith Komugisha was winner of the Ladies Nearest to the Pin award while Alex Coutinho won the men’s prize. Komugisha received a Wakanet router, with a monthly 3G bundle for one year from MTN Uganda.

In the seniors category, Monica Ntege (37 points) and George Egadu (40 points) emerged winners in the ladies and men’s categories reactively.

Among other podium finishers, Rebecca Muwanguzi (41 points) was guest winner.

On a light note, Rebecca Nampamba for the second weekend in a row ‘won’ the ‘Piga Mingi’ prize to the amusement of herself and revelers alike. She returned the least score of 16 points. Last time out she had 94 nett at the Captain’s Prize tournament the previous weekend.
