Semi final

Vipers SC vs Mbarara City, Kitende

KCCA FC will face Onduparaka at the semi finals of the 2019 Pilsner Super 8 tournament.

Onduparaka earlier beat Tooro United 4-3 in penalties after a barren normal time stalemate while the defending champions were 2-0 winners at newly promoted Wakiso Giants on Tuesday at the Wakisha resource center grounds in Wakiso district courtesy of goals from Allan Okello and substitute Sadat Anaku in the 37th and 90thminutes respectively.

Okello opened the scoring by finishing off a superb Mike Mutyaba through ball in a move initiated by Sadam Juma. The teenager stretched Yasin Mugabi who had earlier denied Juma with a remarkable save.

Teenager Sadat Anaku was named Man of the match against Wakiso Giants on Tuesday

With a minute of normal time play, substitute Patrick Kaddu that had come in for Herbert Achai beat an offside trap to set up teenage Anaku, who round off Mugabi to score the visitors’ second.

Despite earlier confirming his absence, KCCA FC coach Mike Mutebi brought on new signing Erisa Ssekisambu for Juma in the second stanza.

Albeit both sides showing hunger, it was KCCA’s second win against the Purple Sharks in three meetings with the other ending in a stalemate.

Mutebi was impressed with Wakiso Giants opposition, saying that it was perfect test for his charges ahead of the CAF Champions league preliminary stage tie away to Namibia’s African Stars FC this weekend.

“This has been a perfect precursor for us ahead of our CAF Champions league task this Saturday. Wakiso Giants asked my team many questions with their good use of the ball,” noted Mutebi after the match.

He believes that much has to be improved in the final third despite the team bonding well in the midfield. Wakiso Giants Head Coach Kefa Kisala also picked positives from the loss.

“It is unfortunate that we lost but there were positives to pick from the game. We are on the process of building a team but at least we have a team that can compete. We are going correct the mistakes going forward,” noted Kisala, whose side plays Tooro United in the classification match.

However, Tooro United filed in a petition to the FUFA Competitions committee alleging that Richard Anyama who featured for the Caterpillars is still a registered Wakiso Giants player.

The West Nile side rubbished the petition insisting that the player duly belongs to them. Vipers host Mbarara City this Friday in the first semi final as Proline wait to play URA in the other classification match.
