FUFA Big league final

Wakiso Giants vs Proline, 4pm

Kyetume and Kansai Plascon had to endure nail biting penalty shootouts to grab their visa to the semi finals of this season’s FUFA Big league play-offs. Favorites ahead of the tie, Kyetume beat the Masindi-based side 3-2 in penalties after a 2-2 normal time draw at the StarTimes stadium, Lugogo on Thursday.

Wahad Lwanga gave Kyetume an early first half lead after turning Vincent Kayizi’s cross from the right into his own net.

Dove FC equalized through Richard Kyamanywa nine minutes from the break following goal keeper Emma Kalyowa’s failure to clear a loose ball in the box.

Substitute Ali Ngongo took little time after replacing Patrick Ochan to give Kyetume second lead in the game. However, Kalyowa foul on substitute Yunus Kasozi culminated into a penalty that was converted by Dove shot stopper Hussein Ndugwa to force penalties.

Jackson Mayanja, the Kyetume head coach was sent to the stands late in the opening half although he kept communication with his assistant Allan Kabonge through the perimeter fence.

In the shootouts, Kalyowa kept out Elianu Samson whilst Ndugwa, who was Dove FC’s best performer on the afternoon, kept out Denis Lubowa and Ali Ngongo respectively.

Sunday Steven, Owen Kasule and Vincent Kayizi converted for Kyetume while Robert Baluku and Andrew Omego converted for Dove FC whilst Hussein Ndugwa (goal keeper) and Johnson Tusuubira got denied by the post.

Whereas Dove FC was playing at this stage for the first time in their first FUFA Big league season, Kyetume were playing in the playoffs for the second consecutive time after falling to another Masindi side Kitara FC in penalties last season.

Kyetume will now play former Premier league side Kansai Plascon in the Saturday final at StarTimes stadium, Lugogo. The playoffs final will precede the Big league final as Wakiso Giants, who led Elgon group take on Proline that came atop of Rwenzori group. Both Wakiso Giants and Proline already earned automatic promotion to the Premier league next season.

Nyamityobora, Ndejje University and Paidha Black Angels are the three teams relegated from the Premier league after 2018/19 season.
