FUFA Women Cup final

Saturday, 4pm

Lady Doves vs Makerere University, Lugogo

Lady Doves Coach Oliva Mbekeka hopes to dress last Saturday’s wounds of losing to UCU Lady Cardinals FC at the final of 2018/19 FUFA Women Elite League when the Masindi side takes on another University side Makerere University in the 2019 FUFA Women Cup final at StarTimes stadium, Lugogo this Saturday.

Lady Doves saw their chances of lifting a double shuttered when they fell to Hasifa Nassuna and skipper Moreen Kinavundori goals to lose 2-0 last weekend –a result that left Mbekeka’s young daughter in tears as her mum and team received Silver medals.

“We missed the league but we have another chance to win a title this season. We rectified our mistakes and ready for the Cup final,” noted Mbekeka.

The Crested Cranes assistant coach wants to win the Cup final for her daughter, club director and loyal fans. Lady Doves beat She Corporate in penalties 4-3 after 2-all draw at the semi finals while Makerere University beat Soroti-based Echos High school 5-0 to storm the final.

Like the league that produced new champions for the first time after Kawempe Muslim Ladies FC winning since inception, the Women Cup will also have a new champion after ejection of last year’s winners UCU Lady Cardinals.

The newly crowned League champions beat She Corporates 2-0 in last year’s Cup final at Kabwohe grounds in Sheema district to win Shs3m prize money whilst runners up got Shs2m while individual winners got Shs100000 each.
