Nam Blazers overcame City Oilers in game two of the men’s final of the Tusker Lite National Basketball League (NBL) playoffs beating them 60-71 on Friday at the MTN Arena, Lugogo in Kampala to level best of seven series 1-1.

In the women’s division, title holders JKL Lady Dolphins have stretched their series lead to 2-0 after beating university side UCU Lady Canons 52-60 in the first game of the evening.

Nam Blazers outrebounded City Oilers 50:46 and had more points on the fast breaks 12:4 but the latter’s bench collected 19:12.

Amisi Saidi stood out for the Namuwongo based side shooting a game high 24 points and adding 10 rebounds and 1 assist.

Deng Dikong followed with 19 points, 6 rebounds and 2 assists. Ariel Okall Okoll had 6 points, 13 rebounds and 3 assists while Chris Omanye posted 8 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists.

For City Oilers who have won the championship in seven straight seasons, Francis Azolibe shot a double double of 16 points and 10 rebounds just like Moses Maker who managed 11 points and 10 rebounds. They were the only ones who managed double figures.

In the women’s division, JKL Dolphins title hopes have now been brightened as they now need two wins from a possible five games to have the championship at their grasp for a third straight season.

Akello Hope of JKL Lady Dolphins managed 10 points, 9 rebounds and 2 assists while her teammate Rita Imanishimwe posted 17 points against her former side.

UCU Lady Canons’ Rose Akon managed a game high 22 points including 18 rebounds and 1 assist but her individual brilliance wasn’t enough to help her side even series.

Game two was graced by Minister of State for Sports Hon. Peter Ogwang including his predecessor Hon. Hamson Obua who’s now Government Chief Whip. Officials from National Council of Sports, FUBA were also in attendance including Members of Parliament.

Game three of the Tusker Lite National Basketball League playoffs is scheduled for this Sunday, 2nd October.
