Herman ‘Deco’ Mutebi, one of Uganda’s most promising professional golfers, has announced a new sponsorship partnership with The Aviator Africa and NuMax Cinemas. The partnership was officially unveiled at a press conference held at NuMax Cinemas, located at Victoria Mall, Entebbe.

This sponsorship package, totaling UGX 22,000,000 MILLION, aims to support Deco’s participation and performance in the upcoming 19th Johnnie Walker Uganda Professionals Open, scheduled to take place from September 2nd to 8th, 2024, at the Entebbe Golf Club.

This strategic partnership will provide Deco with the financial support necessary to cover various expenses, including apparel and equipment, green fees, accommodation, feeding, caddie fees, travel expenses, promotional materials, media management, and a performance bonus.

Deco is inspired by Uganda’s leading professional Ronald Rugumayo locally and hopes to follow in his footsteps. He will don his role model – Tiger Woods’ – colours; white blue, black and red throughout the entire Open as he looks to script his own legacy

Herman ‘Deco’ Mutebi expressed his gratitude and excitement about the partnership and believes that it has rejuvenated him ahead of the tournament.

“I am deeply grateful for the support from The Aviator Africa and NuMax Cinemas. This partnership will allow me to focus on my game and perform to the best of my abilities at the Uganda Professionals Open. I have been hitting balls on a daily and turning in some impressive scores, now this sponsorship is going to make me literally sleep on the course. But I know I have to take it easy on myself. I am determined to make my sponsors, home course gallery, and my country proud,” Mutebi said.

Vincent Mupenzi – Managing Editor – The Aviator Africa (also representing Numax Cinemas), shared his enthusiasm for the collaboration.

“We are thrilled to be part of Deco’s journey as he takes on new challenges in his golfing career. At The Aviator Africa, we believe in supporting local talent and helping athletes reach their full potential. Deco’s dedication and passion for the sport align perfectly with our values. At NuMax, we love movies, and we’re equally passionate about supporting local talent. Partnering with Deco is a fantastic opportunity to extend our commitment to the community beyond the cinematic experience. We’re excited to see Deco excel at the Uganda Professionals Open and proud to play a role in his journey,” Mupenzi said.

Innocent Ndawula, Deco Mutebi’s manager, also commented on the partnership.

“This sponsorship marks a significant milestone in Deco’s career. We are thankful to The Aviator Africa and NuMax Cinemas for their confidence in Deco’s potential. This partnership will not only provide financial backing but also inspire Deco to achieve greatness on the golf course.
May the actions of these two sponsors go a long way in awakening the sleeping giants in other corporate and government institutions to support local talent in golf and other disciplines so that they go on to play to their potential without wary and fear of the unknown.”
