Uganda’s Dixon Aol Okello has been selected by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) to serve as a security officer for the return leg of the 2023/2024 TotalEnergies CAF Champions League. Okello is one of two officials from the CECAFA Zone chosen for this prestigious role.

The upcoming match will see African giants Al Ahly host Tunisia’s Esperance ST at the Cairo International Stadium on Saturday, May 25th, following a goalless draw in the first leg. Sudan’s Mohammed Abdallah Ibrahim has also been appointed as the second assistant VAR for the game.

Dixon Aol Okello brings a wealth of experience to the event, having previously managed security for significant tournaments such as the 2019 and 2021 AFCON, as well as the CAF Confederation Cup finals in Kinshasa (2018) and Nigeria (2022). His expertise in handling high-stakes matches is well-recognized across the continent.

Alongside Okello, Honorine Emerentienne Eyong will also serve as a security officer. The match will be officiated by referee Jean-Jacques Ngambo Ndala from DR Congo, with assistance from Souru Phatsoane of Lesotho and Seydou Tiama of Burkina Faso.

The 2023/2024 TotalEnergies CAF Champions League has seen strong participation from CECAFA Zone teams, with Simba SC and Young Africans SC, both from Tanzania, reaching the quarterfinals.
