Uganda Premier League (UPL) side Onduparaka FC have unveiled betting company AbaBet as their lead sponsor.
The partnership amounts to Six Hundred Twenty Five Million Shillings (625,000,000) running for three years. This development was confirmed on Thursday at Mestil Hotel in Kampala
The partnership will see AbaBet logo being emblazoned on the front of the team’s jersey. AbaBet will also takeover the team’s stadium naming rights hence from today onwards the team’s Arua-based backyard will be called AbaBet Green Light Stadium.
“Just like Onduparaka, we believe in humble beginnings and we want to walk together and grow together. The club can count on us for support and in this partnership both parties will benefit,” AbaBet Marketing Officer Prince Kangume said at the partnership unveiling.
Onduparaka Marketing Officer Mercy Munduru revealed that albeit the club’s struggles in the recent past, its resilience and support of partners have made it reach this far.
“We have walked this journey with lots of partners and we don’t take that for granted. This (AbaBet partnership) will help us sustain the club in the league. It will also accelerate our performance,” Munduru noted at the unveiling.
Munduru also adds that, for them to partner with AbaBet is a huge plus as they aim to grow the club’s theme of ’embracing our heritage.”
It’s been a great week for Onduparaka as they earlier on renewed their partnership with telecommunication company MTN Uganda.
Onduparaka will return to league action on Friday, 12th February when they play host to Busoga United.
Ahead of league resumption, Onduparaka are seventh on the UPL table with eight points from their opening five games of the 2020/21 season.

Onduparaka FC is undoubtedly the most popular football club in West Nile and the North, and beyond. The club rose to fame over five years ago and it’s journey to the top is an inspiring one.
