FUFA Big league final

Proline 1-0 Wakiso Giants

Proline football Cinderella season continued with a 1-0 win over Wakiso Giants to claim the 2018/19 FUFA Big league title on Saturday at the StarTimes stadium, Lugogo.

Having secured promotion automatically after topping the Renzori FUFA Big league group, the Shafik Bisaso side secured their first silverware under FUFA after overcoming the Elgon group winners.

Anukani Bright (L) recieves his FUFA Big league MVP award from Uganda Cranes Head coach Sebastien Desabre

Bright Anukani goal in the 32nd minute sunk the Purple Sharks to secure Proline FC’s maiden Big league title and Shs10m cash prize.

“It was the best way to conclude the FUFA Big league. Out target at the start of the season was earning promotion, but I am happy the boys have gone this far,” noted head coach Bisaso.

Proline are on the verge of winning a historic season double if only they can overcome Bright Stars in the final of 2018/19 Stanbic Uganda Cup due May 25 at the Masaka recreational grounds.

In the individual awards, Anukani, who has had a magnificent season, was also named as the FUFA Big league Most Valuable Player (MVP) whilst teammate Ivan Bogere completed the amazing season with 14 goals to take home the golden boot.

Ivan Mutumba of Wakiso Giants was named the best goal keeper of the season to take home golden gloves after keeping 9 clean sheets in 15 games. The trio took home Shs1m. Wakiso Giants won Shs5m as first runners up while Kyetume, who beat Kansai Plascon 4-0 earlier on Saturday to secure the last promotion slot, took home Shs3m.

The fair play award went to Light SS FC and got Shs2m on top of the accolade.  Dove FC and UPDF got Shs1m each after making it to this season’s playoffs.
