Reports: Wananchi HC Set To Lose Players

Reports from hockey circles claim that Wananchi men’s side are set to lose some of their key players to rival sides ahead of the new season.

“City Lions and Kampala have raided Wananchi for players. Though not yet made official and public, some deals are on the brink of completion,” a source told this reporter with club officials refusing to comment on the matter.

The biggest transfer of the season is Vincent Arnold Kasasa’s transfer from Weatherhead men’s team to Weatherhead Historicals.

Kasasa’s departure has left a vacuum in Weatherhead’s offense and he is yet to be replaced, something that has caused worries to Weatherhead faithful.

Weatherhead fans were recently worried of matching Wananchi this season, but the reported raid in Wananchi camp has gotten their (Weatherhead) fans talking again.

“Losing Kasasa is likely to be  a smaller loss to what I hear about Wananchi. With all these reported twists and turns, next season will be very exciting,” a Weatherhead fan told this reporter.

Wananchi men and women’s teams retained respective national championships last season. Their men won the title during the season finale off 63 points, three points ahead of second placed Weatherhead. Wananchi women’s side won the title with games to play.
