Uganda vs Zambia, Kyadondo

Uganda Rugby Cranes have been handed a major injury boost ahead of Zambia clash this Saturday at Kyadondo Rugby grounds in their final home match of the Victoria Cup 2019 as Justine Kimono returns from injury.

The Betway Kobs winger, who will be the Vice captain, returns at a time when the Rugby Cranes are seeking maiden international home this year before they embark on trips to Namibia and Zimbabwe for the tournament return legs.

“He has great experience in the team and his return is a huge boost for us,” Rugby Cranes Head Coach Robert Seguya noted after naming the team for Namibia clash on Wednesday evening. Kimono is also buoyed ahead of the tie. “We respect Zambia but we need to win our first home game and I believe we can. I am in good shape now and I am adjusting to the team’s new structures. I have trained enough and expect the usual from me,” he promised. In some of the team changes, Seguya moved centre Pius Ogena from the back row to the front urging that he can be more useful at the front than the back. “He is aggressive and will be able to match Zambia’s quick and pressing style of play,” he explained. Brian Asaba, Saul Kivumbi and Joseph Kagimu are back in the team replacing Kelvin Balagadde, Ivan Kabagambe and Robert Kanyanya respectively.

Uganda last played Zambia in 2007 during the Rugby Africa Gold Cup and emerged victorious.
