Uganda Premier League side Lugazi FC has officially announced the signing of striker Shafiq Avemah from Police FC on a one-year contract, adding firepower to their attacking lineup as they gear up for the final phase of the season.

Avemah, a proven goal scorer with experience across Ugandan football and beyond, expressed his excitement about joining Lugazi FC and believes he will thrive in the club’s tactical setup.

“Lugazi FC’s style of play inspired me to come here, and I am sure I can give my best with the team’s good build-up play,” Avemah stated. “I know there will be pressure because the team expects goals from me, but I thrive under pressure. Even diamonds are made under pressure, and it drives me to perform better.”

Avemah began his career in 2017 with Teresa FC, where he quickly made an impact in the Kampala Regional League, finishing as the league’s top scorer in 2018. His goal-scoring instincts saw him transition into futsal, where he continued to impress. Playing for Yeak Kabowa in the 2018/19 Futsal Super League, Avemah dominated the competition, netting an astonishing 46 goals to become the league’s top scorer.

His prolific form caught the attention of Uganda Premier League side Express FC, where he secured a move before eventually transferring to Elman SC in Somalia. After gaining international experience, Avemah returned to Uganda in 2023, signing with Police FC. He continued his scoring streak, bagging seven goals in 14 matches.

With his ability to score from various positions and a knack for being in the right place at the right time, Avemah is expected to play a crucial role in Lugazi FC’s campaign as they push for success in the FUFA Big League. His addition provides the club with a much-needed attacking boost as they aim to secure a strong finish to the season.
