After failing to stage the Uganda Open Championship on March 23-24 as per the Uganda Taekwondo Federation (UTF) 2019 activity calendar, UTF organized their biggest event on the calendar last Sunday after four postponements.

The National Open was held at open Katwe play grounds for a single day from the two days earlier planned. UTF President Hakim Kato said that he was happy that finally the championship was held.
“The event was delayed because we had no finances. We were also trying to get a venue that can attract many spectators after a low turn at the MTN Arena, Lugogo,” said Kato, noted that the event was held for one day to reduce on expenses. Few upcountry clubs graced the championship and Kato attributes this to the late communication. Lee Club emerged winners with 82 points, Apac (15 points) and Rubaga (14 points) finished second and third respectively.
Final standings
