Three boxers that represented Uganda in the 2018 All Africa Games in Morocco will not be part of the national preparing for Tokyo 2020 continental Olympic qualifiers due next month in Senegal.

The three including Joshua Tukamuhebwa, Jalia Nali and Hellen Baleke were beaten in the last trial bouts on Sunday at the MTN Arena, Lugogo. Tukamuhebwa lost to Adinan Yasin in light weight (63kgs) who he beat last year to book a ticket to All Africa Games.

Baleke, who scooped Bronze medalist at the All Africa games lost to Nasali Doreen in the middle weight while Jalia, who was also on the Bombers team in Rabat, lost to impressive Akello Suzan in the feather weight category.

“I have been dreaming of representing my country and now I have the opportunity. I missed out to Morocco for All Africa Games last year but I continued to work hard. If I get a chance, I will do my best for my country to ensure that I qualify for Tokyo 2020 Olympics,” noted Akello. Bombers captain Shadir Musa beat resilient Mugerwa Stanley in welterweight (69kgs) while Male Joshua stopped Mukiibi Idris in the second round of the light heavyweight.
