The organising committee chairman Hajji Twahil Kitezaala received the sponsorship on Tuesday at the bank’s main offices in Lugogo, Kampala.

Dr. Sulaiman Lujja, the Manager Islamic banking at Tropical bank commended the organisers of the games for continually having improved organisation of the games.

“As Tropical Bank, we are focused to improve on the games’ sponsorship. We also look forward to help these Muslim students and their parents afford holy pilgrimage to Mecca by saving with us through our newly introduced Tropi-Hijja savings account which enables you to save and borrow for Hijja,” remarked Lujja.

According Hajji Hussein Lwembawo, the UMEA games treasurer, over 25 schools had confirmed participation by yesterday although registration closes on Thursday –the arrival date.

“The games will commence on Friday starting with netball and football and we shall have the official opening at 2pm to be graced by Buganda Prince Kassim Nakibinge.

“We want to thank Tropical bank for the financial support. This is the third year running the bank is supporting the games and this sponsorship will be handy in buying trophies, certificates, medals as well as catering for administrative expenses,” noted Lwembawo, who warned participating schools against use of ineligible athletes.

Kasawo Islamic SS Director Hajji Khasim Kajaya said that his school together with the community is ready to host the games and to receive the participants.

“The grounds are ready as well as hostel. We are only waiting for action,” he said.

The schools will compete in football (girls and boys), volleyball (girls and boys), handball (girls and boys), netball (girls), Table Tennis, and Badminton (Boys and Girls). Kibuli S.S are the defending champions after coming top at last year’s edition at Nkoma S.S in Mbale.
