Uganda Cup – Quarter finals
Vipers SC vs SC Villa

Vipers SC will host SC Villa at Kitende in a Uganda Cup quarter final first leg on Tuesday.

After frustrating seasons to date, the cup seems to be both sides realistic chance to win something this season.

The Venoms are still in the title race but sit third on the log, two and one point behind leaders Express FC and second-placed URA FC respectively.

With just four games to play, it looks like the Venoms will miss out on defending the crown they won last season.

They come into the game on the back of a five-game winless run at Kitende, drawing three and losing twice.

That sort of form at home, must be worrying for a side that is usually ruthless in their own backyard.

Against Villa, they take on an outfit that is struggling both on and off the pitch.

The Jogoos sit in 8th, 22 points off the top of the UPL and it looks like they are struggling financially after captain Asuma Alishe came out to indicate that he is owed 18 months worth of salary.

Vipers have no major injury concerns going into the game with Dan Sserunkuma, Denis Kiggundu and Ahmed Amayo the major occupants in the sick bay while Shaban Mohammad and Bashir Asiku are still serving an internal suspension.

For Villa, they will be without the duo of Meddie Kibirige and Emmanuel Wasswa who are with the Sand Cranes in Senegal. Andrew Kiwanuka and Gofin Oyirwoth are injured along with Benson Muhindo. However, Gavin Kizito returns after missing the last couple of league games through suspension.

This season, Vipers have already beaten SC Villa twice in the league.

To reach the last 8, Vipers have eliminated both Busoga United FC and UPDF FC while Villa took care of Ndejje University FC and Onduparaka FC.

After the game at Kitende, the two sides will meet in the second leg at Bombo next week.
