Perfect Three for Buhimba as KCCA Held at Home
Buhimba United Saints continued their flawless start to the 2025/26 StarTimes Uganda Premier League season with a 1-0 victory over Kitara FC in the first-ever Hoima derby played at Royal Park, Butema, on Thursday evening.
Edison Agondeze was the hero for the Saints, scoring the game’s only goal nine minutes from time to secure Buhimba’s third straight win of the campaign. The forward latched onto a well-timed assist from Maxwell before calmly slotting past the Kitara goalkeeper to send the home fans into wild celebration.
Despite being booked earlier in the 65th minute, Agondeze’s late strike not only earned him the Man of the Match award but also ensured that Buhimba remain top of the table with nine points from three games. Kitara, meanwhile, sit 12th with just one point from two matches.
At the MTN Omondi Stadium in Lugogo, KCCA FC were held to a goalless draw by a spirited Lugazi FC in the late kickoff.
Both sides struggled to create clear-cut chances in a match dominated by tactical discipline rather than attacking flair. Lugazi’s Juma Mutebi stood out with a commanding performance in midfield, earning him the Man of the Match award for his composure and control.
The result leaves KCCA in second place on five points from three matches, while Lugazi trail closely behind in fourth with four points from the same number of games.
Action continues on Friday with Mbarara City hosting BUL FC at Kakyeka Stadium, while URA FC will welcome Express FC in the evening clash at the Arena of Visions.
