Matchday 12 of the Uganda Premier League (UPL) resumes on Wednesday with crucial fixtures at both ends of the table, as teams battling relegation and mid-table uncertainty look to secure vital points.
At Midigo Primary School Ground, BUL FC take on bottom-placed Calvary in a must-win encounter for both sides. BUL come into the match ranked 13th, level on points with Lugazi, who currently occupy the final relegation position.
Victory for BUL would not only ease relegation fears but also provide a much-needed boost to a season that has so far fallen below expectations. Against a struggling Calvary side rooted to the bottom, BUL will be favourites to collect maximum points, though the pressure to deliver could play a defining role.
Later in the evening, attention shifts to Lugogo where Lugazi face NEC under the floodlights at MTN Omondi Stadium. Lugazi enter the contest with 10 points, sitting in the red zone but just two points behind NEC, who are placed 10th.
NEC have endured a difficult start to the campaign, managing only two wins from their first eleven matches, and will be eager to create distance from the relegation pack. For Lugazi, a positive result could significantly alter the standings and tighten the already congested bottom half of the table.
Elsewhere, Kitara host UPDF at Royal Park Butema in an encounter that promises intensity.
Kitara will be keen to respond after their defeat to Entebbe UPPC before the break, while UPDF approach the match equally desperate for points. The army side remain uncomfortably close to the relegation battle and know that a win could propel them away from danger.
