The anticipation and excitement are reaching new heights as the Uganda Secondary School Sports Association (USSSA) reveals the final three nominees in each category for the upcoming USSSA Excellence Awards 2023. The selection process has been meticulous, and these finalists represent the epitome of talent and dedication in secondary school sports across Uganda.

Male Coach of the Year Finalists:

Kisero Eric – Swimming
Ayub Khalifa Kiyingi – Football
Omondi John Mapeesa – Basketball
These coaches have demonstrated exceptional leadership and skill, guiding their teams to success in their respective disciplines.

Female Coach of the Year Finalists:

Lubowa Harriet – Basketball
Mugisha Lillian – Swimming
Bayiga Justin – Athletics
These coaches have not only shaped their teams to victory but have also inspired a new generation of athletes to reach for the stars.

Female Sports Teacher of the Year Finalists:

Atwesige Marion – Buddo Secondary School
Kyolaba Grace – St Mary’s Boarding Secondary School Kitende
Alwenyi Alice – Mengo Senior School
These dedicated educators have not only imparted knowledge but have also played a pivotal role in fostering a culture of sports excellence within their schools.

Male Sports Teacher of the Year Finalists:

Mulaje Ronald – St Mary’s Boarding Secondary School Kitende
Ssentumbwe William – St Noa Girls Secondary School Zana
Kasujja Erias – Kibuli Secondary School
These outstanding sports teachers have gone above and beyond to nurture talent and instill a passion for sports among their students.

School of the Year Finalists:

Kibuli Secondary School
St Mary’s Boarding Secondary School Kitende
Buddo Secondary School
These schools have emerged as powerhouses in secondary school sports, consistently achieving excellence across various disciplines.

Female Athlete of the Year Finalists:

Katemba Karimah – Swimming (Agakhan High)
Birungi Winnie – Tennis (Kibuli Secondary School)
Nyimwungere Peace Olga – Football (St Noa Girls Secondary School Zana)
These remarkable athletes have not only displayed exceptional skill but have also become inspirations for their peers.

Male Athlete of the Year Finalists:

Barigye Mathew – Tennis (Ntare School Mbarara)
Allan Oyirwoth – Football (Amus College School)
Mutatwala Ephraim – Hockey (Namilyango College)
These male athletes have shown unparalleled prowess in their respective sports, becoming the pride of their schools.

The USSSA Excellence Awards 2023 is shaping up to be an unforgettable celebration of talent, commitment, and sportsmanship. The winners will be unveiled at the grand gala at the Imperial Royale Hotel on Friday, December 15th, 2023, starting at 2:00 pm.
