USSSA Qualifiers: Wakiso regional games kick off

Wakiso Regionals continues its tradition of delivering thrilling football action in the Uganda Secondary Schools Sports Association (USSSA) Qualifiers, showcasing both the cool and fiery rivalries among top talents from the region.

Following the draws held for the Wakiso Regional qualifiers on Friday, April 5, at Wakisha Resource Centre in Wakiso District, the championship officially kicked off today, Monday, April 8.

This edition of the championship takes place at St Mbaga Nadangira Zone, where 32 teams are set to battle it out for the coveted five spots allocated in this zone.

Defending champions Buddo SS headline Group A, facing tough competition from Kasangati High School, Kisubi Mapeera, Zana Mixed, Aiden College Ndejje, Andy Mwesigwa Education School, and St James.

After their defeat in the Nsagi Zone finals to Madinah Islamic, Buddo SS is determined to regroup and defend their title.

Group C features Madinah Islamic, who will clash with Kitende Zone finalists Light High Seguku, alongside Standard High Zanna, Divine SS, Kangulu High School, Kawempe SS, Answar Moslem, and St Jona.

Despite the challenges posed by their group, Light High Seguku director Samuel Kiberu expresses confidence in his team’s readiness to compete, stating, “The sports department has assembled a strong side. Although we face tough competition, our team is prepared to rise to the occasion.”

St Mary’s Kitende leads Group D, competing against Greenlight Islamic SS and Entebbe’s Boston High School.
