Uganda Tennis Association (UTA) President, Cedric Babu Ndilima says that they have now shifted focus to future activities following the conclusion of the Kinetic Trust Junior Championships over the weekend at Kitante Tennis Courts.

Babu says that the weekend do is a good start in terms of rebuilding the association’s programmes and activities and they now aim to have more engagements in the remainder of the year and next year.

“We shall move to the next stage of trying to have bigger tournaments in the next month or so,” Babu noted, re-echoing the association’s readiness to host the East African Junior Teams’ Competition slated for 11th to 17th October 2021 at Lugogo Tennis Complex in Kampala.

“We look forward to the rest of the year and the coming year in terms of the plans we can make to have several tournaments through all the different age categories,” Babu added revealing that they also have plans for wheelchair tennis and beach tennis.

According to Babu, the association also seeks to elevate the level of the athletes and coaches and generally the growth of the game in Uganda with UTA seeking to fully bounce back from the impact of Covid-19 and its disruptions.

However, the Kinetic Trust Junior Championships attracted over 100 players. The Tournament was the first trial run for the ITF World Tennis Number.
