Vipers SC have sacked Head coach Edward Golola after the side’s ejection from the 2019/20 Stanbic Uganda Cup at the round of 64 on Wednesday.

The 2016 winners were dumped out by third division side Kajansi United an 8-7 on penalties after a 1-all draw at the Betway Muteesa II stadium, Wankulukuku. Michael Male opened the scoring for hosting Buganda region league side before Vipers SC equalized through club lead scorer Fahad Bayo to force penalty shootouts.

Kajjansi United goalkeeper Michael Kagiri saved substitute Umar Kyebatala’s penalty kick for his just to storm round of 32 at the expense of the current StarTimes Uganda premier league table leaders.

Vipers announced the sackings in a cub statement. “Vipers sports club announces that head coach Edward Golola and his entire technical team has been relieved of their duties with immediate effect. The club would like to thank Golola and his team for their work during their time at Vipers SC and to wish them success in the future. A caretaker technical team will be appointed until the end of the current season, while the club conducts a thorough recruitment process for a new, full-time coach.” Golola had replaced Kenyan Micheal Nam Ouma in last July whom he was deputising.

Last season, Vipers SC were ejected by FUFA Big league side then Proline at the quarterfinals while Paidha Black Angels, another Big league side dumped out the Kitende side in 2017 at home at the same round.

The Venoms were coming off a disappointing 1-0 home win against rivals SC Villa in the league at the St Mary’s stadium, Kitende. The loss, their second of the season, left them top with only four points above reigning champions KCCA that are second with 38 points after 18 matches.
