West Nile, Bugisu complete FUFA Drum quarterfinal set up

Bugisu 3-0 Teso

Vipers SC forward Tito Okello and Moses Okot grabbed a brace each as Acholi whipped Bunyoro province 4-2 at Pece stadium on Sunday as the group stage of this year’s FUFA Drum tournament came to a conclusion. Ronald Kamanye and Richard Enyama scored for Bunyoro.

Okello, who was named Man of the match also finished top of scorers by end of group stage with six goals. In another group C tie, West Nile thumped Karamoja 3-o at the Green light stadium, Arua with goals from Brian Ade, Fred Amaku and Man of the match Ezira Bida.

The win ensured West Nile’s progress to last eight at the expense of Bunyoro. At Mbale municipal stadium, Bugisu made home advantage count with convincing 3-0 win over neighbors Teso to seal quarter final place at the expense of the latter.

Last season top scorer James Alitho, Ronald Magwali and Man of the match Edgar Bwogi scored for Bugisu with the latter dedicating MoM accolade to his mum.

Bukedi and Kigezi played to a 2-all draw at the Booma grounds, Butalejja in the other group D tie. Iddi Babu and Michael Birungi scored for group toppers Bukedi while Isaac Kasuju and Clifford Rukanga netted for Kigezi.

Only Sebei bowed out of the competition without a win and point. Bugisu and West Nile joined holders Buganda, Lango, Tooro, Busoga, Acholi and Bukedi to the quarterfinals.

Shs100m is up for grabs in total cash prize while each Match day man of the match gets Shs100,000 cash prize and an accolade.

FUFA, Uganda tourism board and government bankroll the tournament that is meant to celebrate ancestry, rally patriotism, spread the game and unearth new talents.
