Kansai Plascon has boosted the Uganda Cup with UGX 166m.

The deal which was announced on Friday, March 26 at the company’s offices on 2nd street will run for a period of two years.

Speaking at the event, Kansai Plascon Managing Director Santosh Gunte said it is a honour to associate with the Uganda Cup.

“I am very honoured to have come on board. He noted.

“we are always associated with Sports, we have always wanted to associate with Uganda Cup because of its rich history.”

The event was flanked by several officials from the Federation of Uganda Football Association (FUFA) including 2nd Vice president Florence Nakiwala Kiyingi.

Nakaiwala highlighted that they are exited that the Uganda Cup continues to grow and urged Plascon to venture into other competitions like the Women football.

“We are excited to see that the Uganda Cup continues to grow, this is good news for the game. Stated Nakiwala.

“I wish to encourage Plascon to explore more opportunities in some of our tournaments that they haven’t joined like Women football that is on a high rise.”

This year will see an increase in prize money from Sh132 to 166m.

Last year, the competition did not have a winner after it was halted due to Coronavirus.

This time round, it will start on the round of 32 with only Uganda Premier League and FUFA Big League clubs.

The tourney will kick-off on April 5 through to July 24 at a yet to be confirmed venue. The ties will be played home and away beside the final.
