Event: 2021 (30th) Lady Captain’s Prize Golf Tournament

The 2021 Lady Captain’s Prize Golf Tournament was launched on Thursday at Uganda Golf Club (UGC) terrace. The event, marking its 30th staging will be played on Saturday at the club’s par-72 course in Kitante.
Last year’s event didn’t happen due to COVID-19 disruptions that forced sport to grand to a halt for about six months.
About 210 players are set to grace the event which will be played in honor of outgoing UGC Lady Captain Anne Abeja who will be handing over office to Grace Kabonero. By press time, 197 golfers had already registered.
“This is an important tournament for the ladies section of UGC as it marks a transition of office from the outgoing Lady Captain to the incoming,” outgoing UGC Lady Captain Anne Abeja, also President of the Uganda Ladies Golf Union (ULGU) said at the event launch.

With this being the women’s month themed “Choose To Challenge,” Abeja who thanked tournament partners for the support added that the tournament which is open to UGC members and guests will be played in celebration of women.
The tournament has attracted a huge field of sponsors including perennial partner Uganda Breweries Limited (UBL) who have always been around golf circles.

Elizabeth Mutamuliza Nsubuga, Brand Manager – Premium Beers Uganda Breweries said urging women to challenge stereotypes molded around male dominance.
MTN Uganda offered 11 Million Shillings for the showpiece. The telecommunications giants will also offer a Wakanet router, with a monthly 3G bundle for one year to the nearest to the pin side bet winner.
Other partners will also engage in the tournament in their respective capacities.
The event’s partners are; Tusker Malt, MTN Uganda, Britam Insurance, NTV, Stanbic Bank, Pepsi, Case Hospital, Uganda Airlines, Kigambira Safari Lodge, Marsh Uganda Limited, Trackers Safari Lodge including friends of the past Lady Captain and UGC itself.
Not less than 28 golfers will be awarded at the 19th hole, notably; overall winners, seniors, guest winners plus respective group winners, and the like.
The dress code for the course is white. The 19th hole experience will see men put on glamorous outfits with ladies going for dashing attires.
The format of play is stableford.
