Rashid Kawawa scored a brace against Paidha Black Angels for Arua Hill to emerge 2-0 winners at the Bar Okoro stadium in the final fixture of the first round of the FUFA Big League over the weekend.

With the win against Allan Kabonge’s side, which is the fourth in seven games, Arua Hill SC who’ve now collected 15 points sit comfortable on Elgon Group with two point lead.

They now await communication from the FUFA Big League competitions management on the second round fixtures.

Hussein Mbalangu made two changes from the starting team that played 2-2 with Gaddafi FC last Thursday, with Gadafi Gadinho partnering Allan Mugalu as starters for the first time.

Leku Alfred meanwhile stepped in for Caeser Okhuti upfront. As the heavens poured down, Paidha Black Angels made the first attempt to score just a minute into the game when Erick Otingcwinyi shot vigorously wide.

Immediately Arua Hill retaliated with a move that Gadinho initiated. The midfielder drilled a pass to Baden, who had chance to either score or create but he opted to create except it didn’t end in goal as Leku misguided the ball off target.

Five minutes later, Rashid Yakin swung a cross that only needed accuracy which Leku lacked. The striker tried to score again in the 17th minute as he pulled a trigger from a dead-ball 25 yards away from goal before it missed the target with a few inches.

Baden was focal again when he delivered a cross which Rashid Muhamed powered off target in the 33rd minute.  In the 39th minute, Mugalu found Baden who targeted Leku but the flight of the ball went past only to land on Agau whose poke missed the target.

In the second half when the rains left a wet and slippery pitch with a cloudy sky, Paidha Black Angels returned a different side, very unfamiliar, from the first half face as they asked a lot of questions but Anyama was in position to defend. However their notable chance fell to Patrick Aruwa after Rashid Muhamed and Richard Anyama failed to deal with a danger situation.

Rashid Muhamed headed a back pass to Anyama as Aruwa followed up to close up Arua Hill goalkeeper who fambled and lost the ball, consequently Aruwa came face to face with an empty net but failed to guide the ball home.

Hussein Mbalangu introduced Brian Ade and Rajab Kakooza to replace Alfred Leku and Gadafi Gadinho in effort to change the ugly shape of the game on his side but his best substitution happened in the 75th minute with the introduction of Rashid Kawawa who came for Baden Mujahid.

Kawawa just spent four minutes before testing the net but the linesman’s flag went up after deeming Ade was offside during the build up hence the goal was cancelled. After a minute, Kakooza placed a pass to the right wing for Kawawa who didn’t think twice but strike from outside the box into the rough of the net.

The 20-year old completed his brace in the 87th minute with again beautiful strike from same side but close distance from the previous goal. Ade and Mugalu were involved in the build up.
